Kyle Livinghouse — Puebla Regional champion (M-C)
Prankster Tailwind offense with two Mega options, Charizard Y sun or Froslass Aurora Veil, plus Unburden Sneasler, Kingambit and Garchomp. The fastest of the three M-C Regional champions; Showdown simulations against the real top 8 show its weak points against sun Trick Room and Salamence + Whimsicott cores.

- Status
- Regional champion (333 Masters); B+ structure (A with either Mega)
- Pilot difficulty
- High: picking the Mega (Charizard Y or Froslass) and managing Encore, Tailwind and Unburden
- Confidence
- High for the event and sheet; medium for estimated EVs; medium-low for simulations
- Best use
- Fast games where Tailwind or Aurora Veil goes up on turn 1 and Sneasler, Garchomp or Charizard finish before the opponent plays its plan.
- Hardest matchup
- Sun Trick Room (Joseph Ugarte: 3 % in simulation), Mega Blaziken + Mega Raichu Y (Zach Holowiak: 5 %) and Salamence + Whimsicott + Kingambit cores (8–10 %).
- Priority change
- Do not change the champion team: pick the Mega per matchup (Froslass against Dragon/Ground/Grass, Charizard against Steel/Grass).
- Next step
- Test Team Preview by hand against Trick Room: which four to bring when Farigiraf or Sinistcha is on the opposing sheet.
- Summary
- The title shows how strong raw speed is in M-C; its weak points are Trick Room and the fragility of Whimsicott and Froslass.

team structure
Competitive reading
Strengths
- — Very high base speed (169–189) before Tailwind doubles it.
- — Two Megas with different plans: sun damage or Aurora Veil with Blizzard.
- — Prankster Encore stops Trick Room setters and Protect users.
Weaknesses
- — Sun Trick Room (Ugarte) flips its speed advantage: 3 % in simulations.
- — Salamence + Whimsicott + Kingambit (Kelsch, Komen) win the Tailwind and Intimidate exchange: 8–10 %. Speed Boost Mega Blaziken with Mega Raichu Y (Holowiak): 5 %.
- — Whimsicott and Mega Froslass go down in one hit very easily: 19 and 20 of 93 field attacks are guaranteed OHKOs.
- — Only Kingambit is slow: against Trick Room it has no other pieces to take advantage of it.
Game plan
- — Typical lead: Whimsicott + Sneasler or Garchomp. Turn 1: priority Tailwind plus a strong attack; Encore if the opponent tries Trick Room or Protects.
- — Pick the Mega at Team Preview: Froslass against Dragon/Ground/Grass (Garchomp, Salamence, Rillaboom), Charizard Y against Steel and Grass or to overwrite an opposing weather.
- — Double attack during the 4 Tailwind turns; keep Kingambit for the endgame or to punish Intimidate.
- — If the opponent sets Trick Room, Protect and Encore to burn turns instead of attacking blindly.
Limitations
- — EVs are not public (open team lists): every stat, speed tier and calc uses estimated standard spreads.
- — It does not claim a real win rate: simulated games use the same heuristic AI on both sides: they measure how the sheets interact, not the player's skill or the real difficulty of the matchup between humans.
- — With 40 games per opponent, differences under ~15 points are not significant; extreme results (0 % or 100 %) mostly reflect the AI repeating the same plan.
- — Damage calcs are Showdown's, with no crits, no Intimidate and no screens; incoming attacks are computed without weather unless the attacker sets it.
- — Team Auditor Pro v4 is static and does not yet load the M-C ruleset: legality was checked separately with the Showdown validator.
- — The player's games, leads and Mega choices per round are not published: the plans on this page are editorial readings, not attributed history.
- — The Extremo AI counter comes from a small sample of simulated games: it is a starting point to test, not a guaranteed recipe.
counter lab
How to beat it: data measured against the real top 8
Pokémon Showdown simulations against the top 8 teams of the M-C Regionals, Showdown damage calculations and the team Analitykos' Extremo AI builds to beat it.
Overall result
60% wins in 920 simulated games against the real top 8 (23 teams)
Method: Pokémon Showdown (5b01be8), format gen9championsvgc2026regmc. The champion and each opponent are piloted by the same heuristic AI (Analitykos Hard level) with fixed seeds; 40 games per opponent against 23 top 8 teams of the Louisville, Puebla and Gdańsk Regionals. Damage: Showdown's own damage formula, no critical hits, min/max roll.
Simulated games measure how the six sheets interact under the same pilot, not how strong the champion is in human hands: the heuristic AI does not play Team Preview or Protect like a top player. EVs are not public (open team lists): standard 66-point spreads are estimated for every team. Treat win rates as direction, not as a prediction.

Counterplay matrix
- Threat
- Prankster Tailwind
- Pressure
- Goes before any normal attack and doubles the Speed of an already fast team.
- Primary answers
- — Trick Room (secured with Armor Tail or Follow Me)
- — Your own Tailwind on the same turn
- — KO Whimsicott: Sludge Bomb, Gunk Shot or sun Heat Wave
- Failure mode
- Attacking Whimsicott with a single Pokémon while it holds Focus Sash.
- Test plan
- Double-target or use a multi-hit move on Whimsicott on turn 1.
- Evidence
- Simulations: 3 % against Ugarte's sun Trick Room.
- Threat
- Mega Froslass: Aurora Veil + Blizzard
- Pressure
- Cuts incoming damage for 5 turns and pressures Dragon, Ground and Grass with spread Blizzard.
- Primary answers
- — Fire and Steel: Incineroar Flare Blitz 188–222 %
- — Rock and Dark hits
- — Brick Break or Psychic Fangs to break the veil
- Failure mode
- Letting the veil go up for free and playing 5 turns at a disadvantage.
- Test plan
- Bring a fast Fire or Steel attacker for it.
- Evidence
- 20 of 93 top 8 attacks are a guaranteed OHKO on it in the calcs.
- Threat
- Defiant Kingambit
- Pressure
- Punishes Intimidate and Parting Shot with +2 Attack and closes with Sucker Punch.
- Primary answers
- — Do not use Intimidate while it is on the field
- — Fire and Fighting: Heat Wave 129–152 %, Close Combat
- — Protect or attack instead of using status to read Sucker Punch
- Failure mode
- Auto-Intimidate in the lead: you give it +2.
- Test plan
- Have a lead plan without Intimidate when Kingambit is on their sheet.
- Evidence
- Open team list: Defiant Kingambit with Chople Berry.

EV research
- Status
- inferred
- Headline
- EVs are not public: open team lists hide them.
- Source gap
- Victory Road publishes the open team list (no EVs or IVs).
- Working model
- Level 50, native Champions scale (max 32 per stat, 66 total), IVs 31 as the format requires; spread chosen from nature and role.
- Conversion
- Native 0–32 scale; no conversion to 510 EVs.
- Usage rule
- Use the spreads shown only to reproduce the calcs on this page.
- Alternatives
- — Kingambit could run some Speed to win ties at 72.
- — Whimsicott could invest in HP instead of Special Attack.
